IBM
(NYSE:
IBM)
today announced that
Gartner, Inc. has positioned
IBM in the Leaders Quadrant
of its new Magic Quadrant
for Enterprise Content
Management.(1)
According to a recent
Gartner, Inc. Dataquest
report, IBM-FileNet is the
largest Enterprise Content
Management (ECM) vendor
based on overall software
revenue for 2006.(2) IBM
believes its market
footprint, along with its
product sets and resources,
positions the company well
for large enterprise-wide
deployments.
"We believe this evaluation
from Gartner demonstrates
that IBM's investment in a
comprehensive portfolio of
enterprise content
management software and
solutions has generated
business growth and
leadership," said Lee
Roberts, general manager,
IBM Enterprise Content
Management. "Our commitment
to addressing a broad set of
content management
challenges, along with our
collaboration with key
business partners, is
delivering unique
capabilities that support
our customers'
industry-specific needs."
According to the Gartner
analysis, "leaders have the
highest combined scores for
their ability to execute and
completeness of vision.
They're currently doing well
and are prepared for the
future with a clearly
articulated vision. In the
context of content
management, leaders have
strong channel partners, a
presence in multiple
regions, consistent
financial performance, broad
platform support and good
customer support. In
addition, they dominate in
one or more technology or
vertical market. Greater
emphasis was given this year
to suite integration, for
example, a common user
interface, common code base
and single repository;
demonstrated enterprise
deployments; integration
with other business
applications and content
repositories; and a vertical
process/solutions focus."
IBM's enterprise content
management software supports
the company's global
Information on Demand
initiative which provides
customers with data exactly
when and how they need it to
improve their business
processes, quickly respond
to market needs and rapidly
identify new business
opportunities. |
